Weld (Reseda luteola L.)

Weld is biannual dye plant and the most important for yellow dyeing. It grows to more than five feet. All the above ground parts of the plant are used for dyeing. Weld is Native to Western Asia and the Mediterranean area.

The dye plant are cultivated many countries now for yellow dyeing. Weld was used ancient times as a dye plant for textile, painting, fresco, etc..

Known as in English Weld and Dyer’s weed, German Farberwau, French Gaude , Greek Reseda Vaphiki and Arabic Bolaiha names with yellow color naturel dyestuff.
